#FABIOLA COSTA
 SAO PAULO - BERN
 1986*

Fabiola's works are an investigation into representations of concrete life experience and situations as well as depictions and ideas that can only be realized in collage art.

Her collage artworks are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted.

By applying abstraction, she tries to develop scenarios that do not follow logical criteria, but are based only on subjective associations and formal parallels, which incite the viewer to make new personal associations.

The works are based on inspiring situations: visions that reflect a sensation of indisputability and serene contemplation, combined with subtle details of odd or eccentric, humoristic elements.

"I want my work to reach the viewer's mind, make them dream, wonder, etc. It takes courage to examine one's background, history and ideas, but to expose it, lay it all there on the table like a piece of raw meat that is a mix between bravery and naivety. While doing it, without expectations, I'm setting myself free and having an open conversation. So I can better understand the whole picture of my own biography. I try to go beyond the surface and reveal a more profound cultural, ethnical and existential meaning with my collages." - Fabiola Costa
